Many congratulations to Dr. Marcela Garza for successfully defending her dissertation titled Reclaiming the Sacred: Afro-Latina Narratives of Trauma, Memory, and Digital Resistance in Ana Maria Gonçalves and Dahlma Llanos-Figueroa this past summer.
Dr. Garza, a Ph.D. in Romance Languages, also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. She will teach Spanish at Clarke Central High School in Athens, Georgia, while continuing to develop her research on Afro-Latinx literature, memory, and digital humanities.

The Latinx Student Support Group from the Center for Counseling and Personal Evaluation on UGA's campus is recruiting participants for the fall semester.
The group is meant as a safe space for Latinx identifying students to discuss matters of culture and mental health.
Sessions will start this Wednesday, September 10, at 5:00 p.m.
