Georgia Students Place Top 5
in FFA Spanish Creed Invitational
|
|
|
Georgia students Joel Vásquez-Marisiott (Washington Middle) and Samantha Pazmino (Central of Carroll) qualified as top-five in the3rd National Spanish Creed Invitational .
Per their mission statement, the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Creed "underscores the organization’s beliefs about agriculture, FFA membership, and the value of citizenship and patriotism." At the same time, "the Creed speaking event enhances public speaking skills, builds self-confidence, and advances FFA members in the degree program."
FFA spans the entire USA and also includes the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico and the event is exclusively for seventh, eighth, or ninth grade members. While there is a national competition, recently, more states have started organizing a Spanish Creed Speaking Event.

Tuesday night’s freeze marked the end of an incredibly productive season for the Latin American Ethnobotanical Garden.
This fall, we created flower arrangements for 20 tables at Whit Davis Elementary’s Hispanic Heritage Night and helped the School of Psychology bring life back to their long-empty containers by dividing and replanting our overgrown agaves.
For the rest of the semester, we’ll be cutting back the frostbitten annuals, but leaving the fallen leaves in place to support next year’s pollinators.
Happy fall from the Latin American Garden!
