The Portuguese Program and the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute (LACSI) at the University of Georgia are pleased to announce the 2024 PORT-LACSI Brazilian Studies Travel Grant. The award will help cover graduate students’ travel expenses to present or conduct research on Brazil-related topics between April 1 and June 30, 2024. Important: All final supporting documentation and evidence of travel or travel plans must be submitted to LACSI by June 1, 2024. Awards Eight awards of up to $800 will be distributed among students from any discipline who will engage in research activities or present academic work on Brazil-related topics between April 1 and June 30 of 2024 (all final supporting documentation must be submitted to LACSI by June 1, 2024). Eligibility All graduate students studying Brazil and currently enrolled in a UGA department, institute, center, or program are eligible and encouraged to apply. Proposed activities can occur either inside or outside Brazil and should involve travel to conduct fieldwork research or present academic work on Brazil-related topics. Application process To be considered for the grant, students must fill out this form and submit provisional or final supporting materials by the deadline. A PORT-LACSI faculty committee will evaluate applications and communicate the awards to the grant winners by the first week of May 2024.
