Día de los Muertos Lantern Parade
Starting at Lyndon House Arts Center (211 Hoyt Street); Ending at ATHICA (675 Pulaski Street, Suite 1200)

The UGA Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute is teaming with the Lyndon House and ATHICA for a Friday evening Day of the Dead lantern parade starting at Lyndon House and ending at ATHICA—about a 15 minute walk. The procession will include traditional Mexican dance performed by our friends from Tonallí Danza Folklórica Mexicana at both locations.  Great cultural event for the kids!  See details below and hope to see you this Friday!

Lantern Parade 2019

Friday, November 1, 7PM  (Rain date Nov. 3)

The parade route begins at the Arts Center at 211 Hoyt Street ending at ATHICA at the Leathers Building, 675 Pulaski Street, Suite 1200.  Assembly will start at the Lyndon House Arts Center at 7:00 PM and the parade will commence at 7:15 PM.

We welcome  special guests to get the parade started!  Tonallí Danza Folklórica Mexicana will share Day of the Dead celebratory dance at the Arts Center and at the end of the parade at ATHICA.  Thanks to our partner Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute at UGA!

All are invited to bring lanterns and flashlights and join the fun. Lanterns must be powered by battery, solar, or other flameless light sources.No fire-based, flame lanterns. Please leave pets, motorized vehicles and bicycles at home.

Put on your walking shoes and let’s light up the town!
