The Classic Center (300 N Thomas St.)
Dear Latin American and Caribbean Studies students:

It’s already October!  Don’t know about y’all, but this Midwesterner is ready for cooler weather and Halloween.  I have a ton of news for you, so let’s get to it.

Career Fair MONDAY

The Fall UGA Career Fair, which is the largest general career fair of the year, is taking place on Monday, October 5th from 12 – 5 pm at the Classic Center downtown.  This event is open to all UGA students and over 180 employers will be there, looking to fill internship and full-time opportunities!
Shuttles will run from campus to the Classic Center between 11:30am and 5:00pm. Bus stops include: Memorial Hall, Chemistry, Physics, the Main Library, and the Classic Center. This route will not be reflected on the Bus app.
Make sure to bring copies of your resume, your UGAID card, a pen, and a folder or padfolio to collect materials.
Never been to a Career Fair before?  Not a problem. The UGA Career Center is here for you!  See pages 17-20 in the UGA Career Guide for great information and tips!

Get Course and EL Credit for your Internship during Spring 2027

I am once again running FCID 4100: Humanities Internship during spring 2027.  This class allows you to get three upper division credits and Experiential Learning credit for any professional part time job or internship that can promise you 9 hours of work per week/129 hours of work over the course of the semester.
If you already have a part time job or internship and are interested in taking the class, email me to get the process started!
And if you’re interested in taking the class but you don’t have a part time job or internship lined up for spring 2027, contact me!  I can help you look for/apply to positions.
Also, keep your eyes peeled on my Humanities Virtual Jobs Board.  I have developed some internships on campus that I’ll be posting soon (like working with the Pre-Professional Advising Office or reading submissions for the Oxbelly Writers Retreat) that will run during spring 2027 concurrently with the FCID 4100: Humanities Internship class.

Pre-Law Networking Night on October 12

Curious about law school or already planning to apply? Join the UGA Mentor Program and UGA Career Center for an engaging evening of panel discussions and networking with practicing legal professionals from diverse backgrounds. Whether you are just starting to explore the legal field or you are set on your path to law school, this event is a unique opportunity to hear real stories from alumni, ask intentional questions, and leave with meaningful connections.
Dinner will be provided. Business casual dress required.
Don’t forget that my drop-in hours are every Tuesday from 11-1.  And if that time doesn’t work with your schedule, send me an email and we’ll set a time that works better.
I’ll be back next month with more news.  Until then, email me with questions or set up a time to meet!
Sincerely,
Professor Lasek-White
